My absence didn’t mean anything to you, because
My presence had no sense over you.
Guess my jokes, laughs, the comfort I offered
Were no good to you.
I canceled my plans, gave up my time just to make sure,
You were all right.
You see, lately, I’ve been losing my mind,
A war in my gut, a storm in my heart,
I hoped you’d hit me up, “Hey are you all right?”
I stopped putting effort, just to prove a point
I feel horrible because you proved me right.
I hope you forgot all the poems I wrote,
Makes me sick, how bad I tried,
Muster up the love, compressed into words,
All the lines I wrote, grinning ear to ear.
Hate to see you go, happy to see you smile.
The crowd takes up my space, and I’m still behind
I gave you signs, must have been too subtle.
As you walk by, I stood there in sight
Hoping you’d turn back, smile, or wave me goodbye.
Your eyes looked lost, sparkling, lost in that crowd, Probably didn’t know I was still behind.
“It’s all good dear” I whisper into air, Knowing you’d never hear me sigh.
The plain truth dances under moonlight,
Yes darling, I’ve lost you, long before tonight, This just stamped it shut, So love, Of
Here ends the story
You and I.
